Thematic Datasets

Demscore's Thematic Datasets assemble a wide range of variables from datasets across all partnering Modules related to a selected topic.

All thematic datasets in Demscore are by default available in the Demscore Country-Year Output Unit, using the Demscore Country-Year Identifiers. They therefore have identically ordered rows and can be horizontally merged. In some cases, we also make thematic datasets available in additional output units, for instance when a majority of the variables in the dataset comes from a unit of analysis which is not originally country-year, and having the dataset available only in the Demscore Country-Year output unit would mean loss of information.

With every Demscore update, we are planning to release new thematic datasets.

For suggestions on themes and/or requests for existing thematic datasets in output units unavailable on this page, please email contact@demscore.se.

Thematic Dataset on Gender

This dataset encompasses the diverse aspects of gender that are available for analysis in the Demscore research infrastructure. This includes social, cultural, economic, and health-related variables. The dataset provides researchers, policymakers, and practitioners with a rich repository of information to investigate and analyze gender-related issues from various perspectives, without having to search data sources and merge variables themselves.

We hope that this dataset can serve as a powerful tool for researchers and practitioners interested in examining gender-related phenomena, identifying patterns and trends, and informing evidence-based policies and interventions.

Thematic Dataset on the Environment

This dataset encompasses a wide range of variables on environment-related issues, which captures several aspects of e.g., climate change, and environmental policies.

The compilation is created to enable researchers as well as policymakers to easily get access to top-quality social science data pertaining to the environment, without having to merge variables themselves.

Thematic Dataset on Political Parties and Elections

This dataset contains over 1,000 variables on various aspects pertaining to parties and elections. This includes variables on e.g., party programs, voter turnout, cabinet compositions, and government formation. We hope that this dataset will be a valuable resource for users that are interested in political representation and electoral aspects of democracy. Note: the number of variables can vary depending on the Output Unit that has been downloaded.
